This August, Vinyl Frog has added four new films to the store three glossy metallic vinyl wraps and one glossy metallic colour paint protection film. Each one fills a gap that has been hard to fill well, whether you want a magenta that holds its depth in the shade, a soft purple that shifts with the weather, a bronze with real warmth in it, or a purple that protects your paint while it changes the colour of your car.

Here is what each film looks like on a car, and how to choose between them.

Glossy Metallic Berry Blaze

Berry Blaze is a gloss metallic magenta, and the thing that sets it apart is what sits underneath the colour. Most magenta films are built on a pink base, which is why they drift toward bubblegum the moment a panel turns away from the sun. Berry Blaze is built on a deep red base instead, so shaded panels stay in the wine range and only open into a hot magenta where the light hits directly.

On a curved surface like a hood, that gives you a natural gradient: dark and rich down at the shut lines, bright and glowing across the crown. The metallic flake is fine and evenly spread, so the shift happens gradually with no hard line across the panel.

Best for: anyone who wants a bold colour that still reads expensive in a car park, not just under studio lights.

Glossy Metallic Lavender Haze

Lavender Haze is a soft, pale purple that moves with the light through the whole day. Under cloud it reads as a cool grey-violet. In open daylight it lifts to a clear lilac. When low sun catches the panel directly, it warms into a pink-violet.

The gloss surface does the reflecting while the metallic flake underneath scatters light back up through the colour. That is what keeps flat panels like doors and roofs from looking like flat printed paint, and gives them real depth instead.

Best for: a softer, cleaner look that still turns heads, and it works especially well on smaller cars and EVs with big flat body panels.

Glossy Metallic Bronze Ember

Most bronze films lean yellow-brown. Bronze Ember goes the other way with a copper-orange cast, which gives it far more warmth and makes it look closer to a factory premium colour than a novelty finish.

One thing worth knowing before you install: this film is directional. The metallic flake lies along the length of the roll, so if one panel goes on at ninety degrees to the panel next to it, the two will read about half a shade apart under the same light. Lay every panel in the same direction and the whole car stays perfectly matched.

Best for: warm metallic builds, and a strong pairing with black or bronze wheels and dark tint.

Glossy Metallic Rubellite Purple Colour PPF

This one is different from the three above. It is a colour paint protection film, which means you get a full colour change and genuine paint protection in a single layer, rather than choosing between the two.

It is built on premium TPU with a self-healing top coat. Light scratches and swirl marks disappear with heat, whether that is sunlight, warm water or a heat gun, and the film repairs that kind of mark in about three minutes. Underneath the gloss, it guards your original paint against stone chips, road grit, scratches and UV fading.

The surface is hydrophilic, so water spreads evenly instead of beading and drying into spots, which makes washing quicker and cleaner. It uses a dry application method with a repositionable adhesive, so installers can lift and reset the film while they work. With normal use you can expect three to five years of service, depending on your climate and how the car is driven.

Best for: drivers who want a striking purple and want the paint underneath to stay factory-fresh for resale.

Getting the best finish

A few things make a visible difference with metallic films in particular:

  • Work in a clean, dust-free space at a comfortable room temperature. Airborne dust is the most common cause of specks under a fresh install.
  • Keep every panel running in the same direction. Metallic flake reflects light directionally, so mixed directions show up as uneven colour, especially with Bronze Ember.
  • Post-heat properly once the film is down. Around 110°C on flat surfaces and 130°C on curves and overlaps locks the film in place and stops edges lifting.
  • Give it time to settle. Leave a new vinyl wrap 24 to 48 hours before washing, and leave colour PPF a full week before washing or driving it in the rain so the adhesive bonds completely.

Ready to see them in person?

Screens only get you so far with metallic finishes, because the whole point of these films is how they behave as the light moves. Order a sample size, take it outside, and watch what Berry Blaze does when you turn it out of the sun.
